Giorgi Jincharadze: Through Resource Reallocation and Optimization, We Have Further Reduced Administrative Expenses and Increased Program Funding

A regular meeting of the Government was held under the leadership of Giorgi Jincharadze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia. During the meeting, government members discussed new programs and initiatives.

The Chairman emphasized that the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia continues to support the displaced population across various areas, with particular attention to improving their social conditions, promoting cultural, youth and other initiatives related to Abkhazia, and enhancing the efficiency of public governance.

“Today’s government meeting addressed several important issues. We have decided to significantly increase funding for social assistance to displaced veterans this year. Internally displaced veterans from Abkhazia with Group I disabilities will receive a one-time financial assistance payment of 500 GEL.

Today, the draft amendment to the 2026 budget was also presented. Notably, through resource reallocation and optimization, we have further reduced administrative expenses and increased program funding.

Furthermore, we are launching an important reform aimed at improving public governance efficiency and the targeted use of budgetary resources. We are introducing the practice of approving four-year medium-term action plans within the ministries.

This approach will increase the transparency of the ministries' activities and enhance reporting quality, which will directly translate into improved efficiency of programs aimed at the well-being of internally displaced persons.

I would also like to announce a new initiative. This year, a total of 290 000 GEL will be allocated to support cultural, sports, and youth initiatives related to Abkhazia. Calls for project proposals in the fields of publishing and cultural heritage preservation are already open.

In addition, two youth camps are planned, where up to 100 displaced beneficiaries will take part in non-formal educational activities,” stated Giorgi Jincharadze.

The meeting also addressed other current issues within the remit of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
